Robinson Earns High Marks from Teacher
Dateline Las Vegas, NY - February 15, 2007
Defending NBA slam dunk champion and New York Knicks guard Nate Robinson received the coveted 'check plus' from his 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Thomas, for his paper entitled 'What I Plan to do for All-Star Break'. The 22-year old Robinson, an alleged college attendee at the University of Washington, wrote that he was excited to be defending his crown and that the contest, "...will be great fun in Las Vegas this year, as I'll be trying to defend my title against three big guys: Orlando's Dwight Howard (6-11), Chicago's Tyrus Thomas (6-9) and Boston's Gerald Green (6-8)."
"Nate really is a very special young man," Thomas beamed, "When he was talking about meeting Michael Jordan and Dr. J for the first time, I could really see his expressive side starting to show through."
Of the opportunity to meet Jordan and Erving, Robinson wrote, that "...this is going to be fun. I have never met MJ or Dr. J before and hopefully I won't be too star-struck. I hope I do get a chance to chat with those guys. If I do, I might ask them about what they did to become so successful as players. But I also don't want to bother them because I know they get that a lot."
"Nate is already writing at a 6th grade level," Thomas continued, "If he keeps working, and writing for his 'Gr8 Life' blog on MSNBC, then one day maybe he can get himself a college education, and possibly become a doctor or lawyer. He's always wanted to be an NBA star, though, so maybe if he meets MJ and Dr. J then they can encourage that dream. The sky is really the limit."
The best part for Robinson, however, will be time to share the experience with his mom and dad.
"There is a lot of stuff to do aside from the big events...interviews and behind the scenes stuff. But it's all fun and games, really. My Mom and my Dad will be going with me again, so I'll just chill with them for the most part."
