NBC Apologizes for Airing Cho Videos
Dateline - Blacksburg, VA April 19, 2007
NBC News today apologized for airing the video and posting images left behind by Virginia Tech murderer Cho Seung-Hui, saying that they had faced a tough decision, and perhaps made the wrong choice.
"When we received the package, we knew immediately what we had," said Sleazy McFuckstick, head of programming for NBC, "We faced a tough decision, that being whether to show the videos which you can see by visiting msnbc.com right now, or to not show the videos. In the end, we decided to leave it up to our viewers to decide, and they did so by visiting msnbc.com and following the links to the videos found on the front page. Out of respect for the families affected by this tragedy, we apologize for making this decision, and hope that they will continue to visit msnbc.com, but perhaps not click the links to the videos which others can find on the front page, or embedded in stories about the tragedy."
Responding to criticism about presenting Cho's images, including pictures of the assailant pointing a gun at the camera, and holding a knife to his throat, in large-resolution on the front page of the website, McFuckstick said that this, too, was a "tough decision".
"We don't feel that we are exploting this tragedy to try and attract more viewers to msnbc.com to follow the links to his videos, but rather we are giving the people of this fine country the ability to visit msnbc.com and follow our links to the videos and images in order to try and prevent this sort of thing from happening again. By visiting msnbc.com, following our links, and reading our expert analysis, hopefully our viewers can work to stop this sort of thing from happening in their communities. But should it happen again, you can be sure that we will present all the up to date news on msnbc.com, and in subsequent links presented from our home page."
For WNN this is Exploting Fucks reporting.
