Investigation Finds No Evidence of Profiteering on Oil Prices

Dateline Washington, DC - April 30, 2006

Saying that, "we see no evidence of it, but this is one of those situations where I guess I would call it 'trust but verify," US Energy Secretary Sam Bodman confirmed today that no profiteering has occurred in the US oil and gasoline markets.

Bodman continued, "I guess it really depends on what you think 'profiteering' is. I mean many people have accused Halliburton of 'profiteering', but we also think 'trust but verify' should apply to Halliburton as well."

When asked to define 'trust but verify', and whether or not this is an official policy doctrine for the Bush Administration, Bodman replied, "I guess that really depends on what your definition of 'is' is."

He continued, "Really, 'trust but verify' means that we keep repeating 'there has been no profiteering' in every media report until it sticks as truth then we forget about it and continue taking bribes from lobbyists."

For WNN this is Guesswhich Quotesimadeup reporting.

Hint: The first one is actually real. The rest I made up. And that worries me that the first quote is real...
