Sharpton Has Race Card Revoked
Dateline - New York, NY May 14, 2007
In a surprising turn of events, NAACP Interim President Dennis Courtland Hayes today revoked Rev. Al Sharpton's race card, effectively rendering all racial debates involving him null and void. This comes on the heels of Rev. Sharpton's controversial comments about the Mormon church, and mere weeks after Sharpton confronted former CBS radio host Don Imus over comments about the Rutgers women's basketball team.
"In light of Rev. Sharpton's comments in regards to the Mormon church, especially defending his position by invoking the racist policies of
the church's past, we can no longer allow, on good conscience, Rev. Sharpton to use his 'race card' in public debate," said a statement from Hayes, "We can
only hope that Rev. Jackson can pick up the slack and continue to forward discussion over race relations in the United States."
Sharpton was understandably upset over the developments.
"What President Hayes fails to understand," he responded, "Is that there are many organizations run by white people, many of whom held racially questionable positions in previous decades. If we fail to continually bring these things to light, then Americans may someday forget that we have a racially divided past. I cannot allow, in my position as a civic leader, for Americans to forget, and lament, this history of division. I am not prepared to
live in a world where Mormons and blacks can live side by side, forgetting these horrible trespasses."
When asked for comment, Don Imus was uncharacteristically reserved, adding only that he'd "...say that [Sharpton's allegations of bigotry] was a situation of the pot calling the kettle black, but that'd probably be racist."
For WNN this is Attention whore reporting.
