Sec. of State Rice to Visit Israel "Eventually"

Dateline Washington, DC - July 20, 2006

In response to growing concern over America's apparent lack of interest in the crisis in Lebanon, Secretary of State Condolezza Rice said today that she would make a trip to Israel "sometime, possibly soon".

"You know, I'll get around to it, I'm sure," Rice said in a statment earlier today, "Its just not one of those things I'm really all that worried about right now."

As the death toll mounts, and international response seems slow in coming, many observers are wondering why there hasn't been a strong response from world leaders, especially those in the United States. Rice answered this speculation today as well.

"Well, there was that one resolution in the UN, right? I think we vetoed that though. But its totally on my to do list, right under winterizing the gutters at home, cleaning the garage, and picking up the dry cleaning," Rice stated, "I don't know, dude. Like, why don't you go ask Kofi what to do? Other than that, I mean, I'll go there at some point and say something, probably."

When asked about the situation after an appearance in his hometown of Chicago, rapper Kanye West added that the lack of response from President Bush proved that "George Bush doesn't care about black people, here, there or anywhere." When informed that the victims are Lebanese and Israeli, West added, "Look, I don't care if they's a golddigga, but Bush ain't helpin' out a broke ni**a."

One thing is certain, however, which is that as day 10 of the conflict dawns, and more innocent lives are taken from both sides, the region can only wait, and hope that it doesn't take Rice too long to pick up the laundry at the cleaners.
