VP Candidates Drool on Disabled Families
Dateline - St. Louis, MO September 9, 2008
Speaking today in St. Louis, Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden made waves by questioning the McCain/Palin ticket's devotion to assisting special needs families when it comes to the controversial issue of stem cell research.
"I hear all this talk about how the Republicans are going to work in dealing with parents who have both the joy and the difficulty of raising a child who has a developmental disability, who were born with a birth defect," he said. "Well, guess what folks? If you care about it, why don't you support stem cell research?"
The McCain/Palin campaign was quick to respond to the criticism.
"Barack Obama's running mate sunk to a new low today launching an offensive debate over who cares more about special needs children," said McCain/Palin spokesman Ben Porritt, "Playing politics with this issue is disturbing and indicative of a desperate campaign."
Porritt wasn't the only one aggressively attacking the comments, as WNN found when we caught up to GOP VP candidate Sarah Palin inside the publically funded Ted Stevens Memorial Policy Training Center conveniently located in Karl Rove's basement.
"Some people may say I'm unprepared for Washington," said Palin seated before a makeshift blackboard flanked by pictures of Dick Cheney and 9/11, "But I think its unfair for Joe Biden to say that I'm unprepared to deal with the challenges of raising a special needs family. Until Mr. Biden and Mr. Obama have gestated a child, only to have it be born disabled, I think its sexist for them to question my loyalty. What our special needs children need is the love of God and family, and to say 'no thanks' to Congress and their attempts to force families to accept science against their will. Was that good Mr. Rove?"
"Don't forget: Stem Cells kill Snowflakes," added a mysterious, if somewhat familiar disembodied voice from behind a mirrored partition.
Sen. McCain himself was more direct on the matter.
"I believe it to be unfair that Sen. Biden is making a political issue out of the most helpless of Americans," he said in an interview with WNN, "It wasn't unfair for Gov. Palin to use her disabled children as a cornerstone of her acceptance speech, nor in forwarding herself as a supporter of special needs families. This is a policy she supports. However, to question her support, as Sen. Biden has done, and challenge her policy is out of bounds. Further, when I was a POW for 5 years, I was a beaten and broken man. Never once did I need stem cells to acheive health. If stem cell research was that important, why did I survive my time, unable to feed myself, and wallowing in my own waste? That's an answer neither Barack Obama nor Joe Biden can answer, because they've never been there."
For WNN, this is Frightening Mentalimages reporting.
