Gov. Palin Fields First Campaign Question

Dateline - Cleveland, OH September 17, 2008

AIG? They are, you know, big...and stuff. In a startling turn of events, Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin today fielded an impromptu question from a reporter, something that she had yet to do during this year's Presidential campaign. The question, pertaining to the government's recent bailout of financial giant AIG, didn't phase the Alaska Governor.

"Certainly AIG, though, with the construction bonds that they're holding, and with the insurance that they are holding, very, very impactful to Americans," she said. "So you know, the shot that has been called by the feds, its understandable but very, very disappointing that taxpayers are called upon for another one."

Not to be stopped there, Palin went on to assuage the worries that these ongoing bailouts were growing the size of the Federal Government.

"Its very sad, but understandable, right, that taxpayers have been called upon again, but we must remember, its not like this is to socialize health care or some other liberal idea. We can still say 'No Thanks' to frivolous government spending like that. Further, with these recent bailouts, the feds are now better able to compete in the financial services market, providing Americans with low-cost mortgages, loans, and insurance across the board. It's like we're running a business," she concluded, receiving a pat on the head and a biscuit from a visibly satisfied Karl Rove.

McCain Campaign advisor Carly Fiorina was not so accepting of the event.

"I think its a blatant sexism asking a question that doesn't pander to Gov. Palin's innate likeability and substance. How is she supposed to know anything about running a company, or an economy?"
